A great piece of immortal art. One can feel the love and wisdom, radiating from the face of Lord Mahavira. One wonders whether the Great Thirthankara himself has blessed this picture to this perfection.
Transferred from the womb of Brahmani Devananda, by Lord Indra, to the womb of Kshatriyani Trishala, Vardhamana was born in Royal Palace of King Siddhartha at midnight on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra in 599 B.C. The birth of future JINA was foretold to the mankind by the 23 Thirthankaras, preceding Lord Mahavira.
After the renunciation of Royal comfort, the transformation of Vardhamana into Mahavira took twelve painful years of tolerance and search for knowledge. At the end of thirteenth year of his wanderings, Mahavira attained ultimate knowledge while meditating under a Shala Tree and became Omniscient.
The essence of Lord Mahavira's teachings is the way to Salvation is through self-discipline, meditation and ascetic practices. The Divinations are the blessings to all creatures in the world.
The picture also contains miniature paintings of events in the life of Lord Mahavira.
